GRL was, in a word, amazing. I met some wonderful fellow authors, readers, and bloggers, and made some new friends, which was all I'd hoped for going into this conference. It was big and kind of scary and intimidating, but it was also so incredibly rewarding. Writing is such a solitary business, and it felt really good to be reminded I'm far from alone. I feel so lucky to be a part of this wonderful, diverse, fascinating global community!
One of the highlights of GRL for me was doing an author reading with a couple spectacularly talented writers, Hans Hirschi and Rick R. Reed. I was too nervous to do the actual reading myself, so I got a truly gifted voice actor named Greg Tremblay to do it for me and he knocked it out of the park. It was incredibly gratifying to listen to the laughter of the crowd and to see them thoroughly enjoying what I'd written. I recorded it for those who couldn't attend GRL, and the video is located here. Yes, that's me at the beginning introducing Greg and setting up the scene.
I'm already setting my sights on next year's GRL!
